Our Story
Humancapital® was founded in 2001 with a focus on building an industry specific recruitment practice rooted in domain knowledge and personal network.
For over two decades, we have specialized in recruitment across the retail, textile and apparel sectors. Our work spans the entire value chain - from creative leadership and design roles to operations, merchandising, and executive management. We have placed Merchandisers to Country Managers, Buyers to Chief Product Officers, Designers, and every critical role in between at some of India's most respected businesses.

What began as a focused practice in apparel and retail has evolved in response to our clients' trust and our team's growing expertise. Since 2012, we have successfully expanded into support functions of finance, legal, supply chain, HR, bringing the same rigorous approach and relationship-driven methodology to executive placements in this transforming industry.
Throughout our growth, one principle has remained constant: we are not transactional recruiters. We are strategic partners who invest deeply in understanding our clients' organizations, cultures, and long-term talent needs.

Deepa Sachdev
Managing Partner
Deepa Sachdev founded Humancapital® after recognizing a gap in the market for specialized, technical knowledge-driven search in India's fashion and retail sectors.
After earning a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University, Deepa pursued her masters in Fashion Merchandising at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). She gained valuable industry experience and understood into the operational realities and talent challenges facing fashion and retail organizations.
It was this combination - academic rigour, creative industry training, and practical experience - that inspired Deepa to launch Humancapital®. Her vision was to create a consultancy that could serve both sides of the equation: helping talented professionals find meaningful career opportunities while representing organizations at the highest level.
Two decades later, that vision has grown into a respected executive search practice built on trust, expertise, and an extensive network of industry relationships.
Deepa is a certified independent director, serving on company boards.
